Nederlands Dans Theater has forged a reputation as one of the most innovative and original dance groups in Europe combining virtuoso classical technique with intriguing visual sets and themes. NDT39s premier company presents two works by master choreographer Jir8217 Kyli8225n. In Tar and Feathers a pianist improvises around Mozart39s music at a grand piano perching spectacularly on metre high legs. Against this stunning musical back drop six dancers perform intriguing mysterious movement in a surreal black and white world. Wings of Wax is a thoroughly enchanting work not only through the beautiful music of Bach and Philip Glass but also the lavish imagery on stage. A complete tree hangs upside down above the action as eight dancers emerge from the blackness only to dissolve back into it again leaving audiences amazed and delighted. Completing the evening is Paul Lightfoot and Sol Le8212n39s impressive Signing Off a heart rending ballet about saying goodbye. Set to Philip Glass39 Concerto for violin and orchestra this is a ballet that shows off the NDT dancers39 abilities to the full.
